About me

                    Lets see...where do I begin?

     My name is Debi DeSantis and I am originally from the Philadelphia area and moved to Florida in 1991 where I now live in Palm Beach with my husband and young son who absolutely amazes me, and if it wasn’t for him, there would be no Spongebob in my life. I also have a grown daughter that’s planning on starting a career in the medical field.
      I began writing poetry and short stories when I was in high school, but sad to say, I never pursued it until about 5 years ago. Since then I have written and published two Romance Novels and one children’s book. I’m now working on my third novel and hope to have it completed by the end of the year. I love writing which takes up hours and hours of my day. I have recently gone back to school for Medical Laboratory Technologist and together with my criminal justice knowledge, hope to be able to do something in the forensics field.
    My latest creative venture is book cover design; I started with my own covers and then branched out to fellow authors and several publishers. Besides writing and designing I’m also interested in the Criminal Justice Field and doing anything that involves being creative. I make gourmet gift baskets during the holiday season as well as design my own beaded jewelry.
     I truly love Florida. It’s nice living so close to the beautiful beaches and the turquoise colored water, while watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.
     I have to honestly say though; I really miss the Philadelphia culture and food. Starting with the Philadelphia soft pretzel, South Philly cheese steak and the tea biscuits. I can’t forget to mention the creamed dried beef on white bread…YUM!
     Travel is my vice…my escape from the real world and my “Utopia” which contributes to some of my poetry and writing choices. My family and I have been to the most spectacular places ever….Italy, Austria, Germany, Ireland, England, and almost every island in the Caribbean. My travels have served as a backdrop for some of my stories with the hopes of taking my readers to places that they may have not been to before, or maybe would like to visit again.
     My ideal dream would be to live in Northern Italy, in a small town called Bolzano, which is located in and surrounded by the Italian Alps. It is genuinely captivating, peaceful and truly overwhelming in its beauty. It’s a place that simply took my breath away…there are no other words to describe it. Not to mention the food was great and so was the chocolate. Aruba is also one of my favorite places to be. Just imagine living on a hillside overlooking a vineyard, or on an island swinging in a hammock under a palm tree, drinking some kind of fruity drink and soaking up the sun…maybe some day. I’ll let you know how it goes.

     There is such beauty in this world that most of us only get a glimpse of, this is why making your dreams come true is so important.

    Get ready to be enticed and captivated as you step into my world of literary romance. The journey begins the moment you pick up one of my books and with any luck you will be hooked just like I am. My love for writing began when I was in high school with short stories and poetry. It was over 10 years ago when I began writing 'She Cries in the Dark' briefly scribbling the first few chapters, I put it away, only to start where I left off swveral years ago. I have recently finished writing my 2nd novel 'The Other Side of You' and have started on the 3rd. book.

     My other writing interests include romantic poetry, inspirational verse, and children’s stories. I am proud to say that my poetry has been published in two coffee table books and because of this accomplishment I received the Editors Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry two years in a row. I was nominated for Poet of the Year in 2005 and 2006 and I have been inducted as An International Poet of Merit by the International Society of Poets. I have also received the distinguished honor of 2006 Poetry Ambassador and been selected to receive the Official 2006 Commemorative U.S. Poetry Ambassador Medal.
