Award winning author, poet and book cover designer
Welcome to 'A Look inside my Heart'
Before writng my first novel I submitted one of my poems titled 'A New Love', to poetry.com and was invited to join the poetry symposium in Washington D.C. to receive my Editors Choice Award for 2005. This is where my true literary journey began. I have not put down my pen yet. Most of my inspiration for my poetry comes from family, personal experience and travel.
My other writings include inspirational verse, and children’s stories. I am proud to say that my poetry has been published in two coffee table books and because of this accomplishment I received the Editors Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry two years in a row. I was nominated for Poet of the Year in 2005 and 2006 and I have been inducted as An International Poet of Merit by the International Society of Poets. I have also received the distinguished honor of 2006 Poetry Ambassador and was awarded the Official 2006 Commemorative U.S. Poetry Ambassador Medal.

THIS EMPTY PATH
I REALLY WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN
THAT THINGS WOULD BE THIS WAY
I CANT BELIEVE YOU LEFT MY SIDE
AND YOU TOOK MY HEART AWAY
WHY DO I HAVE TO WALK ALONE
DOWN THIS EMPTY PATH
I MISS THE THINGS WE USED TO SHARE
AND HOW YOU MADE ME LAUGH
I LOVED IT WHEN YOU HELD ME CLOSE
AND WOULD ALWAYS HOLD ME TIGHT
MY DREAMS, THEY HAUNT MY EVERY THOUGHT
AND KEEP ME AWAKE ALL NIGHT.
THE THOUGHT OF YOU NOT BEING HERE
IS MORE THAN I CAN STAND
I REMEMBER WHEN WE’D WALK AT NIGHT
AND YOU LOVED TO HOLD MY HAND
MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN
WITHOUT YOU I’M ALONE
I KNOW THAT YOU ARE FAR AWAY
AND I NEED YOU TO COME ON HOME
EVERY NIGHT I SAY A PRAYER
THAT YOU’LL WALK THROUGH THAT DOOR
BUT YOU MADE YOUR CHOICE, YOU HAD TO GO
AND THEY SHIPPED YOU OFF TO WAR.

RAIN DROPS
MY TEARS ARE FALLING HARDER NOW
LIKE RAIN DROPS IN THE SKY
THINGS HAVE CHANGED, THEY’RE NOT THE SAME
AND I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHY
MY LIFE IS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL
I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO TURN
I LOOK TO YOU FOR ANSWERS
BUT YOU DON’T SEEM TO BE CONCERNED
I NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU DID CARE
I NEED SOME KIND OF SIGN
I GAVE YOU MY WHOLE BEING
MY SOUL WAS NO LONGER MINE
YOU TOOK EVERYTHING I HAD TO GIVE
AND LEFT ME STANDING THERE
MY LIFE HAS NO DIRECTION NOW
I REALLY THOUGHT YOU CARED
I’LL PICK UP ALL THE PIECES
AND REAPAIR MY SHATTERED LIFE
I WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU IN MY HEART
BUT I WILL TAKE AWAY YOUR KNIFE
I’M GETTING BETTER AS TIME GOES BY
I GROW STRONGER EVERY DAY
I LOOK FOR A PATH THAT I CAN FOLLOW
AND I’LL BE SURE TO FIND MY WAY

My Little Boy
When I walk beside you
And hold your little hand
I realize that it won’t be long
Before you are a man
I think of the little things you do
That always make me laugh
It seems like not so long ago
I gave you your first bath
I used to love to hold you close
And rock you fast asleep
I loved the way you used to smell
It’s a memory I will keep
When you fall and scratch your knee
I kiss the booboo away
I wipe away all the tears
And send you back to play
I look into your big brown eyes
And see the innocence within
You have such a beautiful little face
I love that dimple in your chin
No matter where life takes you
Or what you choose to do
Just remember this one thing
I will always be here for you.
To me, poetry is like a
marriage between words.....
If they don't fit perfectly together, they won't make any sense.
